Do you fancy a car with the prestigious Porsche badge, but the 911 is too stiff, the Cayman/Boxster to girly, the Cayenne to vulgar and the Panamera just too ugly for you because you have flawless sight?
Good news is that there is a car for you: The Audi Q5 sibling Macan. The bad news would be that it isn't going to be easy to get one. See, Porsche aimed for a yearly sale of 50.000 Macans, but even before sales could really take off, customers ran into the showrooms and ordered the new Porsche. The effect is simple: internally, sales goals have been raised 80.000, and a new customer would have to wait 10 months to finally get his vehicle. To keep up with the demand, Porsche also altered production capacities at the Leipzig factory. It looks to be another good year for the Stuttgart based sportscar maker, and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , VW share holders should start planning where to spend their bonus money. Probably on leather vents in their new Macan.

This slightly disgusts me. I've driven the Q5 and I found it to be horribly impractical. If you're above 6'2" you can't sit in the back because there's no head room for you, plus there's not enough cargo space for a medium sized dog crate to fit in the back. People won't buy the Tiguan because it's a lowly VW, but the 1% won't buy the Audi because it's so upper-middle class.
It's like my mother who just was wowed at how nice my wife's new Forester was until she realized that retail price was under $35k. So she went out and spent $55k on a Merc ML and only uses it to go to rummage sales. "Ugh. I can't be seen in anything that the middle class can afford!"

Not surprising that a badge and the price pay a role in the customers decision, isn't it? Most cars are not sold by objective values and qualities, it is the brand and image people associate with it and hope that it shines down on them.
I can't say anything about the Q5 as I boycott every Audi. But I have driven a Golf, so that should be pretty similar to every Audi except the Q7 and R8.

Perhaps Porsche will fix this, but when I sat in the passenger seat of the Q5 I felt like I was in pergatory. Yes, you're in a nice seat and everything you touch is a nice material, but there's nothing to touch or see. The dash is EXTREMELY boring. The designers clearly had the drivers in mind because everything is aimed at the driver to the point that seeing the nav screen is difficult and causes the passenger to crane their neck and lean over to see it.
Don't get me wrong, I also boycott Audi as it's just a glorified VW (plus I'm a Stupidru guy) and still a German car that needs attention. My friend bought an A5 and had a Q5 as a loaner and let me drive it
